A week in the UK

From June 11th to 18th thirty students of NMS Neulengbach spent an exciting week in Worthing, England. They all stayed with host families thus gaining an insight into the typical British way of life. In the mornings our students attended English classes at St George’s School and in the afternoons they explored the surroundings with their teachers Mr Erich Puchner, Mrs Andrea Blaha and Mrs Christine Berthold.

They discovered Worthing, a lively town on the Sussex coast, where they went shopping and had a lot of fun on Worthing Pier. One day they went to see Arundel Castle with its fantastic gardens and another day they explored the Sea Life Centre in Brighton. A highlight were the trips to London on Saturday and Sunday. Our sightseeing tours included a ride on top of one of the red double-decker buses, Madame Tussaud’s, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, a boat tour on the River Thames, and Speaker’s Corner in Hyde Park.

On our way to Gatwick Airport we stopped at Hampton Court Palace which embodies over 400 years of royal history.

After this week the students returned home filled to the brim with new impressions, images and ideas. They had successfully practised their English in a foreign country.

May this experience be a motivation for them to go on studying foreign languages, to travel round and to get to know interesting people and other cultures.
